2in1 go

here's another quick post to tell you about this link.

Have a look and find out what your car REALLY is. Mine's a Ford Activa, Lynx or Laser (but then I knew that)

Also, the Jazz is a Mu in disguise (although I didn't see it on the list)

AutoAssault - Your Absence Has been Noted

Just thought I better write a quick note to say I'm still here, I noted this morning on Chemgirl's blog that none of us have been making recent posts so I thought that since she'd gotten around to it that I probably should as well.

So what have I been up too? Well, lately, I've been looking at cars. I'm starting to get sick of the Silly Little Japanese car and I want to replace it. And, as much as I like driving the blue commodore it would be nice not to have to fix it all the time so I think I'll get rid of it too, and the gold one while I'm at it. Think I'll try being a "normal" person for a while and only have one car. The trouble is, what do I want? I thought I'd found the perfect car a couple of weeks ago, 1994 Commodore Station Wagon, 3.8l V6, column change auto (I know, I know but the next point more than makes up for it) with 3 seats in the front & they only wanted $3500 for it. Well, I thought it was perfect until I took it for a pre-purchase inspection, you should see the sheet, they ran out of room to write down what was wrong with it. So I sent that one back and went shopping with M to look for an engagement present for C&M (different M incase you're wondering). After we found a "suitable" gift and had some lunch, as I was wandering back to the car I noticed that EB Games were having a sale so I thought I'd check it out. They had 50% off AutoAssault so I snapped it up pretty quick (and then had to stand at the counter and listen to a lady argue with the sales dude for about 10minutes). The only trouble now is that I need to make some more room on my hard drive so I can install it, the beta test took 10Gb and I only have 4Gb free.

I'm thinking about building a server based around this motherboard and 4 of these drives. That'll give me about 960Gb of storage space so I should be able to free up enough space to install AutoAssault, I should also be able to free up enough space on my Mac hard drive, which coincidently also only has 4Gb free space, to burn House for Ariskah. Actually, the major reasoning behind the server is to aid backup and data protection. After a chat with Dook about Ariskah's laptop, with a 120Gb hard drive & how does she back it up? and all the difficulty I had getting "vital" data back off Mrs Incrediable's external hard drive after it inexplicably decided it didn't want to be mounted, I thought about all of the data that I have that is not backed up, close to 500Gb worth. It looks like the cheapest solution, by far, is to set up a new computer, with built in RAID 5 support and store it all on there. It also gives me an easier way to increase the storage space that I do have available and it lets me keep it all on-line much easier. (On-line as in permanently accessible, as opposed to on-line like this blog)

What else has been happening? I've been going to the gym frequently with Eueyboy, although we've managed to miss quite a few days recently. Instead of going tonight (I know I said I would, I think I'll go in the morning instead) I went down to the garage and had a chat to a mate of mine about cars. After much discussion I think that I've pretty much decided that I want either an Isuzu MU or a Honda Jazz, but the petrol one, not the diesel one (apparently they do exist, now I just have to find one, maybe I should take M's advice and go to Christchurch).

Jump Jump

Look at this, it's an update! Although I do have a little excuse, the power supply for my mini Mac went pop and it wouldn't start and that's where I do all my blogging from. It was awful, I couldn't use it for 4 days and then it took me another day to sort out why my e-mail wasn't working. Turns out the OS X 10.4.7 update that I applied the day before the PSU went, can, under certain circumstances, turn on the SOCKS proxy in system preferences, and unless you happen to be using SOCKS for your e-mail, you can't POP any mail.

You know when you go to a conference and there is one song that they seam to like playing?? Well that happened when I went to Planetshakers in January. The song is called Jump Around and has just been released on the CD Evermore. (Which I finally managed to get my hands on today, to start with I was a bit annoyed at having to pay $30 for the CD but then after having played Jump Around a few times and remembering what it's like I think I would've paid $30 just for that song.) I distinctly remember after a worship session one day, in which Jump Around was the last song sung, the MC dude got up and introduced Reggie Dabbs who was speaking next. Reggie ran onto the stage and quoted a line from the song "Somebody get your praise on!" This resulted in a response of "Jump! Jump!" from the audience and the band launched into another chorus of Jump Around. At some point, maybe the same session I can't remember, after the repraise was finished the band began walking off stage as Reggie began arranging his notes on the lectern, before launching into the song yet again so the band members all ran back to their instruments and started playing.

Jump! Jump!
