There are a lot of weird looking phones coming out these days, and most of them I look at and wonder who on earth is expected to use these things, afterall, most of them are phones with extra bits (like MP3 players) spliced into them. Pantech, however have come up with a rather attractive looking alternative. The phone looks more like a camera than a phone and from the picture looks fairly intuitively laid out. I think I would buy one if they ever came out in NZ and were a reasonable price. (Oh they'd have to make it onto the Apple Compatibility list too)

What a day!
You know it's sooooo much easier to do updates when you can find the keyboard & move the mouse more than 2cm.
What's that funny brown colour I can see?? Oh, it's the top of the desk, so that's what it looks like when you take away all the papers. Unfortunately in all my tidying up I didn't find any spoons.
Over at the garage, I've added the projects page. Not really much to write about, just a couple of silly photo's of a project that has been shelved for now... waiting on parts... oh and space to store it when it's done.
Make sure you visit the authorised repair agents for all your mechanical needs, they have all gone through strict quality control to make sure that they will perform to the highest standards that you expect from Hulks Garage.

It's Official
Okay, I've decided to make this the official place for posting news from Hulks Garage. That way it keeps the garage nice and tidy and also means people can leave comments here easily.
I've rearranged the front page over at the garage & tidied it up a little. Let me know what you think. If you didn't manage to see it in its untidy state, let me know what you think anyway. I managed to make two of the new pages link back to themselves instead of to each other but that's fixed now too.

Broken Stuff
Yesterday at work we got a new coffee machine. It makes good coffee (even though I don't usually drink coffee) and it makes excellent hot chocolate. The basic coffee is free and the fancy coffee & chocolate is 50c a cup, a very good deal in my opinion. This morning Captain Blood spent some time trawling peoples blogs to see what they thought of the coffee machine, much to his disappointment nobody had written anything about it. At morning tea time after about half a dozen people had made coffee the machine decided to break down. Well it didn't actually break but it decided that the waste-basket (it grinds it's own beans and so needs somewhere to dump the non-coffee-making part) was full and it wasn't going to make more coffee until it got emptied. Chaos soon ensued. Eventually after everybody had drifted off Major Feltch Monkey worked out what was wrong, like any good electronic machine it just wanted all it's doors opened and closed again.
This afternoon I was trying to update the list of Authorised Repair Agents over at Hulks Garage and I managed to make a complete mess of the page. This evening I decided that I would make a nice table in word, save it as an HTML file and then upload it to the garage, and it broke. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get it to see the pictures once I uploaded it to the GooglePages site, so I gave up trying, went back and argued some more with the page editor. The Authorised Repair Agents list is now fixed and all of the agents should be listed. The front page is still a bit of a mess but I haven't quite decided what to do with it. I'm also still getting the hang of the page editor.
Earlier this evening, I went to a mate’s garage to take some tires off the old Mazda rims. (I had to put new wheels on the Mad Mazda in order to get a warrant last week) When we fired up the tire machine it didn't do anything. Problem with the compressed air. So we checked that it was all plugged in, and it was. Bother! Then we realised that there was no compressed air anywhere in the workshop. Big Bother! So we went and had a look at the compressor, which wasn't compressing. Really Big Bother!

Hulks Garage
The kind Googlebots have approved my request for a GooglePage, which I'm slowly setting up, so you'll be able to find more info & picutres here.
At this stage I'm going to keep writing blog stuff here, because I haven't played with the GooglePage enough to know if I can do it over there. I know I can write stuff but I haven't seen anything about comments (mind you I haven't really looked)

More toys wanted
Whilst waiting for things to download I stumbled across this piece of hardware. Another thing to be added to the list of things to buy at some time if I ever get LOTS of money.

A Patching we will go
During the week I downloaded the weekend beta test of Auto Assault, a Massively Multiplayer Online Game. I've been waiting ever since for the weekend so I could play it and find out what it's like, finally when I logged on tonight it said that the server was available but I have to patch the game (which I've tried unsuccessfully to do a few times through the week, turns out I didn't have enough Hard Drive space left, now rectified) and it's gonna take the best part of all night!!!!

Going, going, going!!!
I took the new blue commodore back to the panel beaters this morning for him to finish. I found the leak last night with a little help from a windscreen person who happened to be at the garage at the same time as me, was leaking around one of the holes that we patched up last week. I mentioned this to the panel beater and after I pulled the dash out he put a patch on the inside. After I left the panel beaters I went straight to the testing station and they went tick, tick, tick PASS!! I was very excited. So now it's all registered & warranted, now all I need to do (apart from putting the dash back in) is replace the fuel lines & the clutch. Oh and I should probably finish putting the body kit on it too (and maybe the green lights)

Update
Well, well, I've been meaning to write this for a few days now, but haven't really gotten around to it. I took the commodore to the panel beaters last weekend and spent about 4 hours down there. Turns out that the rust is a whole lot worse than I thought so I've got to take it back there again tomorrow morning & get it finished. I got the indicators going again, just had to replace the blown fuse, so it's almost done, almost. I've just got a small leak to find which I think is coming from around the windows, so hopefully, I'll have it up and running by the middle of next week.

The beast lives
There's nothing like standing in the driveway and listening to the roar of a 6 cylinder commodore as it pulls up. The Railway Engineer & I have been going over the new wagon & have almost ticked off everything that needed doing. The Railway Engineer has been driving it for a few days (some cleaver soul smacked into his viva so that's out of action) and fixing up some of the small rust holes in it. There are another couple of holes which I have to see a panel beater about on Saturday morning (9 o'clock would you believe) and then I can take it to the testing station and make it all legal like. It looks good sitting there with the new mags & tires on it. I'm going to put the body kit off the VK on it over the weekend, I'm house sitting at the Railway Engineer's place while they are away, so I have free access to the garage. There is one small thing that could be an issue, the indicators have stopped working so I might have to spend large amounts of the weekend chasing wires and finding out why.
On another note, I've signed up for one of the temporary carparks at work, created by the moving of the houses (see earlier posts). Seams kind of unusual to move 2 houses across the street, put them on top of a carpark and then build another carpark where they were, go figure. There is a potential problem with the new carparks however, they're just dirt with compacted gravel on top. Compacted gravel that doesn't seam all that compacted after a day of people driving on it, and as for the dirt, well after the heavy rain at lunchtime.... (need I say more?)
Just as well the Mazda's four-wheel-drive ah?
