HTML hacking

Apoligies if you're a script kiddie and this has turned up in a Google search, I'm not going to tell you how to hack webpages, sorry.

What I am going to say for those that are reading this is I've worked out why all the fonts on the Magpie post were all not what they were supposed to be. It appears that Firefox can't handle changing fonts and so it inserts all kinds of stuff into the HTML, all legal calls but because they all add together, the overall effect was a mess. Firefox doesn't insert the /span commands into the right place (if at all) and so what has been set previously by the span command gets added to the next span command.

I wonder how blogger will handle having the HTML call in the middle of the line up there?
Apparently, not very well, it just disappeared, although I expected it to. I've taken away the brackets and hopefully it'll work now

I've also turned off the Haloscan commenting because it wasn't working anyway

What a mess

It appears that although the spellchecker works under Firefox, the font button's do not and so my previous post is a mess. Might have to hack the HTML

Magpie

Well well, it's been well and truly over a week since my last post. Have been busy doing stuff and I suppose I kinda half lost interest, see it's not shiny and new any more :-(

Anyway, here's what's going on.

Played netball again tonight, think I am finally getting the hang of it.

Went on a back care course at work today.

Took Hulks wagon for a warrant of fitness this morning, it failed, needs new tires on the front. Don't know if I should tell him, it does have "DON'T MAKE ME ANGRY!!" written on it in big green letters.

All things shiny
Technicians, especially male ones (although I've met very few female ones, but I think even Ariskah will be extremely interested in this one) are attracted to shiny new things, especially with flashing lights, extra especially if those lights happen to be blue. Major Feltch Monkey has been having a bit of a spend, and bought Dook a shiny new G5 X-serve!! It's flash!! Sounds like a jet plane when the fans are going full speed and when you start it up the fans rev up like a motorcycle.

I want one!!
Went around to Mr Incredible's place on Sunday night to watch Batman begins. We invited Batman around but he had made other plans, I'm sure he would've enjoyed it though. (Mind you, he's probably already seen it, he does seem to be a bit of a movie goer)
Anyway, since there was only the 2 of us there after we'd watched the movie, we watched the extras DVD (since we had the 2 disc version). On the second DVD they had all the articles about making the movie, sets, fights etc. They also had one on the Tumbler (in case you're not familiar, the Tumbler is the Batmobile in Batman Begins) and it turns out that the tumbler is a real car!! You read that right, it's an actual it and it has a 5.7l V8 in it as well!! Not only that but all of the stunts in the movie were done with the actual car, including the high-speed chase. And, to top it all off, they didn't even break it doing any of the stunts. I really want one!!

In the summer time....
Since Monday was a holiday (labor day), and I have plenty of leave that I have to use up before the end of next month, I took Thursday and Friday off last week, effectively giving myself a week off. (Well 5 days if you want to get technical, but hey a working week is only 5 days anyway) Was a nice break. Got some work done on the car that needed doing, it's more back together now than it has been the whole time I've had it. Watched a couple of movies and just generally relaxed. Well most of the time, except when we had to take the dog to the vet in the middle of the night on Sunday.

And that's that.
Not quite but it is getting on a bit (ten to ten) so I'm going to go to bed.

(Am writing this on the PC instead of the Mac and just used the built-in spellcheck, works well)

Not one to be out done

Have just been reading Ariskah's blog (see the links if you don't already know where it is) and noticed the Haloscan commenting, which looks quite cool and very useful so I've signed up. Hopefully I've followed their directions correctly and haven't busted everything, all looks okay from my end but you never can tell.

The official word on the car is *scrunch* (No wait a minute, that's the new tire’s rubbing on the guards when you go over a bump, if you have to much weight in the back, cos they're the wrong size. [They do look cool though])

The actual official word is that the exhaust looks factory, and isn't overly noisy. So I might have a chat to the Railway Engineer and see what he says, he's got some spray stuff called "Body Deadener Under Seal" which he thinks is great so I might have to pull off all the panels and fill them up with that. Of course, now that I've put all the panels back on maybe the noise will just go away by itself, will have to get the scrutineers to tell me what they think. I've also found a big hunk of timber pre-cut to the shape of the boot, which will probably help deaden things down as well

Something Different

Okay, here's something a little different. Went and played Netball tonight for a friends mixed netball team. Was certainly different, think I enjoyed it all the same. For the first half of the game they had me playing Goal Shoot, and then when they realised that I couldn't shoot (who stole the backboard??) at half time they swapped me to Goal Keep. The Goal Shoot from the opposition team took pity on me after he realised I'd never played before (okay so I played once before) and was explaining all the rules to me, and interpreting the Ref's calls by explaining why I got called off side etc, which seemed to happen a lot.

On another note, I think Ariskah and her offsider might be right about the car being far too noisy. I drove Mr Incredible out to the airport after work tonight and by the time I got back my ears were ringing. Think I'll have to go and have a chat to Mr Magoo and see what he can do to shut it up a bit. Am going to put it over a vehicle pit tomorrow night and see how much "damage" (read modification) the previous owner has done to the exhaust.

As an aside, I've turned on word verification for the comments, let me know if it turns out to be a real pain but within about 2 minutes of last nights post I had received 4 spam comments, even though I've got registered users only turned on. If the word verification thing works I might turn off the registered users and see what happens

Not Much to Report

I've just realised that I haven't written anything since last Thursday. Trouble is, I still haven't got anything to write, really.

The "sale" on Friday afternoon wasn't much really, some of the junk disappeared and then General Greavous and I hauled what was left off to the skip.

Watched the racing on Sunday afternoon, go HRT!!! Murphy was looking good until his tangle with Ambrose, I would hate to have been the guy who had to call that one and say who was at fault, I suppose they reached the best verdict by saying that neither driver was at fault. Delta was disappointed after Ambrose dropped out (by his own doing in my opinion, but what do I know, I'm an HRT supporter). Lowndes didn't help the Ford's chances any when he collected the wall and broke stuff, it was unfortunate when his windscreen got all busted up by a flying wheel. Official results are available here. Click Sunday Race 1.

The rest of the week has been pretty eventless really, bought another SG1 DVD today so I might find some time to watch that.

The Doctor is Out

Ariskah was right about this being an addictive time waster, all day I've been thinking about what to write here. The unfortunate thing is that despite all the thinking I haven't managed to come up with anything useful to say.....

Have just been setting up the "sale room" with Major Feltch Monkey and General Greavous, now we've just got to wait for the vultures to arrive but they're not supposed to get here until 2, and since it's been a slow day anyway I thought I’d fill in some time and write a post here.

Figured out what was wrong with the links on the sidebar, Camino had cached the page and so when I went back to it to see if the links had been updated, they hadn't. All I had to do was refresh the page and hey presto, the links came right. So I didn't have to bother Road Runner after all, I'd still like to learn some HTML though, maybe when he's not busy.

Anyway, you're probably wondering what on earth the title of this post has got to do with the rest of it. Well, nothing so far!! However, all shall be revealed so if you've read this far you might as well keep reading.

Prime TV have been running the BBC's new Dr Who series on Thursday night for the past 13 weeks, however it finished last week so instead of watching Dr Who last night I had to find something else to watch. Fortunately, Delta had given me the first 2 magazines in the new StarGate DVD/magazine series for my Birthday so I ended up watching 2 or 3 SG1 episodes!! (Okay, 3 SG1 episodes) It was great!! I've never seen the very first episodes before so it's nice to learn stuff like why the StarGate is the only one that I've seen them travel too that is inside a protected facility. I'd probably work out some more stuff if I actually read the magazines but that requires too much effort, and I was feeling particularly mindless last night.

I was going to write the moderators and tell them that as far as I could tell blogger.com works perfectly well under Camino 1.0a1 and suggest that they update their supported browsers list but I've just discovered that the spell check doesn't work, so I might not. Just as well I can cut and paste the text into word, have it check the spelling and the cut and paste it back again. If only OS X supported Alt-Tab fast switching!!

(This has got to be my longest post so far!!)

Early

Need more coffee!!
Late followed by early is not a good idea. In fact, I'm not even sure if this blog thing is a good idea. Just tried updating the links on the side bar but it doesn't seam to have worked, think I need to learn some HTML and work out what I did wrong, might go have a chat to RoadRunner and see what he can show me.

Damn phone! Lost my train of thought now, so I might have to post this and get on and do some work.......
Too late, the phone just rang again. This time it was Major Feltch Monkey with some marching orders, better hop to it

Late

Okay,
It's late, dark, cold and I'm tired. Main reason for signing up was so that I could leave a comment on a friends Blog.

Will write more later
